The American Museum of Fly Fishing, home to the world's largest collection of angling art and angling-related items, brings the history of fly fishing alive for anglers and others. Our renovated and custom-built Museum, located just south of the Orvis Flagship Store on Historic Route 7A, houses an impressive exhibit gallery space, a library and reading room, a Museum store, and other resources.
This museum houses the world's largest collection of angling art and angling-related objects. Rotating exhibitions draw from a permanent collection of more than 1,500 rods, 800 reels, 30,000 flies, and the tackle of notables like Winslow Homer, Bing Crosby, and Jimmy Carter. Every August, a fly-fishing festival has vendors selling antique equipment. You can also practice your casting out back.
As an Orvis fly fishing junkie I love to go to the "fatherland" when ever possible. Orvis folks recommended the museum and I can honestly say I am so glad they did. If you would like to see Stan Bogdan's reels or the prototype of Orvis CFO this is the place for you. I liked it a lot - wish the hours were more accommodating.

We would of loved to see this since my husband is a long time fly fisherman and heard wonderful things about it but the problem is we could not see it since only open Tues-Sat from 10-4. My husband had a guided fly fishing trip that day and we thought it would be open on Sunday but we were wrong....
