If the word "gastropub" conjures up dark paneled walls and tarted-up food, think again. This glass-fronted restaurant occupying part of the first floor of a downtown office building has a very modern feel, from white tiled walls to the background music (a staff person's iPod shuffle selections, it turns out: everything from Irish ballads to Johnny Cash). On the plate is pure comfort food using...

Stumped by the name? A quick translation from the Gaelic is “with us,” which is where folks will want to congregate again and again. Dominating a sunny corner location near the Convention Center, this gastropub pairs good British Isles cooking with an assortment of wines, bottled and draft beers, and, of all things, Scotch lockers for the cognoscenti who want to sip soothing Scotch cocktails....

Cool Britannia still cool in this turbid capital city of Queen-loyal diplomats and interns with Northern accents. "Irish" theme takes off the edge and adds alcoholic revelry to an otherwise distinguished gastro pub theme. Shephard's Pie gets royal treatment, gravy-laden dishes rescue rainy days and Mondays. Serious beer-lovers slosh through happy hour, stiff upper-lips bent into cheery grins....

Citysearch Editorial Review

With its soft lighting and chic British-industrial decor, Againn is a great downtown gastropub for a sophisticated happy hour or quiet dinner. Pork dishes--including several charcuterie plates,...

An overall winner in all areas. An excellent selection of craft beer including Lambic's. The foof is gatro pub and a bit more. It is slighly over priced which is why it is getting a 4.
The service is attentive and the spacing of tables etc just right. The atmosphere is good and restraunt is busy. We were a party...

I've only been here for lunch, but I've heard that dinner and happy hour also are great. The service is prompt and friendly. If you like beer, they offer a wide selection. If you like scotch, you may think you're in heaven. I recommend the burger, bangers and mash, and the shepherds pie. I haven't tried the other dishes, but...

Very good food, but pricey

We ate dinner here recently and really enjoyed the food. I had the shepherd's pie. It was really tasty and a substantial portion. My wife had the roast chicken and she really enjoyed it. The server was obviously inexperienced and made a few mistakes which she quickly corrected. She really worked hard for us despite the errors and that's all...

Almost a very good restaurant

I found this restaurant by accident and as it was raining it seemed a good place for dinner. The interior of the restaurant is modern and spacious. Smiles all round from reception and the waiter, and a good range of food on the menu, including some 'pub' food, though the chef ought to travel to the UK to understand how...

The Extras

Personalized Scotch lockers are rented on a first-come, first-served basis for one to four years, in which you can store up to three bottles and gain access to special events.

Look Good

The main entrance is on 11th Street.

What to Drink

Try the Pimms Cup; here, bartenders make it with your choice of liquor (they recommend tequila in place of the traditional gin) and top it off with ginger beer and house-made mint and cucumber infusions.

Fun Fact

In Gaelic, Againn ("a-g-uin") means "at us" or "with us."
