Editorial reviews from the web (1)

Originally built on the James River about 14 miles below Richmond, this 1753 Georgian mansion was painstakingly dismantled and reconstructed on this bluff overlooking the river in 1933. Most of the original brick, flooring, and paneling were saved. Wilton's design has been attributed to Williamsburg architect Richard Taliaferro. It was part of a 2,000-acre plantation where William Randolph III...

Great collection of 17th and 18th century furniture. Excellent guide named Tom. Been on Antique Road Show with priceless pieces. Way under rated compared to other Richmond sites.

I love the home and the furnishings. Really period accurate. The parking can be a bit crowded when there is a group going through but, nothing too bad. The tour guides are really good. … I love the home and the furnishings. Really period accurate. The parking can be a bit crowded when there is a group going through but, nothing too bad. I have no problems finding this home. It is at the end of the street of the neighborhood. In front of the house there is a roundabout. There are many places for parking. Tours start at 10 a.m and they last 45 minutes. We started the tour on the outside of the home by the front door and then moved...

Charming but History-rich House

One of two pre-Revolutionary War houses in the country with all of its original wood paneling! We had a fine tour with a good docent who answered all of our questions. It contains fine paintings and beautiful furniture. It's well worth an hour's visit.

Richmond's only 18th century public plantation home

An authentic lower James River plantation house that was built by William Randolph III and is an impressive example of 18th century architecture. This five bay, double pile brick mansion adapts the English Georgian style and it was the centerpiece of a 2,000 acre tobacco plantation. An outstanding collection of 18th and 19th century silver, porcelain, and furniture is inside the house, which...

George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and the Marquis de Lafayettte were all entertained at this stunning Georgian plantation home. Wilton was built by William Randolph III in 1753. It was moved from the Virginia countryside to Richmond's historic Windsor Farms neighborhood in the 1934. Period furniture and original wood paneling create a charming atmosphere.
