I've been coming to this shop for about a year now. Once I came in with tires that needed to be inflated. I don't believe that at that time I had ever bought anything from Chip. He inflated my tires for me. I said, ""There should be a service charge."" He said, ""There isn't.""
He does exactly what he says he will do. His fees seem very modest to me. He does not try to talk me into buying anything. In fact, sometimes he explains why I don't need something--that is, he talks me *out* of buying somthing from him.
Incidentally, new to Richmond, I asked him...

Chip operates a great little one man bicycle shop. He treats every customer the same whether they are spending two dollars or two hundred. I've been very satified with the service I have received there. He's brought a little bit of customer service and retail to an underserved area. I expect 5 years from now he will have a bustling full service shop serving the bustling downtown and VCU market.
